Young Talent Time crowns LBK as 2012 Talent Quest winners

Young Talent Time 2012 winners LBK

The 2012 Young Talent Time experiment is over and, sadly, it's unlikely to return for a second series. Fading ratings and the move to Friday night didn't help the show secure the audience Ch10 would have been hoping for, and the fond farewells for cast and mentors was a pretty clear indication that the show wouldn't be returning. YTT needed consistency in timeslot, and if Sunday night wasn't gonna be it the network needed to offer the traditional Saturday night 6:30pm and let it build there as the family show it pitched itself to be. Sure the show was squeaky clean, but that's the point and it had be. Farewell and thanks for having a go. … [Read more...]

Coming Very Soon (PVRs at the ready!)…

Bikie Wars: Brothers In Arms

After the Easter non-ratings period, it all begins. All the shows that networks have been teasing us with promos for kick off. But now they're here - you best be prepared. There's a dearth of reality TV coming (if you're into that sort of thing); there's some amazing new drama; and then there's the pinnacle televised awards event in the Australian TV landscape. There's lots coming - these shows listed are but the higher profile ones - so settle in, people. What are you gonna be watching? (Me? Pretty much all of it.) The Voice What: The latest reality singing format "smash hit" from the US transmuted to an Australian format. The hook is … [Read more...]

It’s the stories behind the #PicturesOfYou that matter…

Pictures Of You

"If you really want to get to know someone, there's nothing like looking through their family photo albums." It's the simplest of premises, and while the digitisation of photographs may alter the way we do it, viewing the family photos of people and hearing their stories offers us great insight and understanding as to who they really are. With this in mind the new show from Working Dog, Pictures Of You, shows that the team involved are back to doing what they do best - sharing *our* stories. It's part This Is Your Life, part Enough Rope, and a thoroughly enjoyable opportunity to watch host Brian Nankervis interview his subjects. He's a … [Read more...]

Interview with Kick Gurry (#Tangle)

Kick Gurry & Justine Clarke - Tangle

In Season 3 of Tangle this revelatory drama will pull apart and look at just how the generations separate from one another and how the ties of family are stretched. Kick Gurry's Joe finds himself in a unique place. Ally (Justine Clarke) has moved her family to a rambling old rental property by the sea. Her financial need to return to the workforce prompts a surprising offer from Joe, which brings to question what Ally wants from him and from Gabriel (Matt Day). Christine's fear that her family is dissolving is confirmed when Max announces he's moving in with Nat. Romeo shares Charlotte's distressing secret and Gigi enjoys having a … [Read more...]

When you have absolutely no one else to turn to… #AgonyUncles

Kick Gurry and Dave Thornton - Agony Uncles

I'd hate to be single and trying to date in 2012. Partially because I'm 38 and a TV nerd, but also because I recognise that while the rules keep changing there are eternal truths when it comes to dating and relationships that each generation has to discover for themselves and I my history was that I always learned the hard way. Thank God for the Agony Uncles who are here to steer us all through the minefield that is finding a partner, keeping a partner, and knowing when to 'Robert de Castella out of there' when you realise the partner is batshit crazy. Adam Zwar, creator of Wilfred and Lowdown, sits down with 18 of Australia's finest … [Read more...]

There’s always a story behind those #PicturesOfYou

120321-PicturesOfYou-Title

This is such a smart and simple premise from the team at Working Dog that it was key they had the right person host the show to ensure the focus was always on the guest. Casting Brian Nankervis to guide and direct the conversation is inspired as he has that rare quality that allows him to connect with people instantly. You can see them warm to him as they share about life and the joy or sadness behind the many pictures they've chosen to share. CAN. NOT. WAIT. From the press release: Flicking through someone’s early photo collection tells us so much about who they are today. Pictures of You is a deceivingly simple idea – and one … [Read more...]

#WAGNation invades Arena – finally

WAG Nation

It's finally happened. WAG Nation was filmed over 12 months ago, and there's been all sorts of hushed comments as to why it's been delayed. As was always the risk in filming this kind of series and delaying the release, one of the WAGs featured is now listed as the 'then girlfriend' of a sporting star. The more things change, whack on some more fake tan. From the press release: The highly anticipated new reality series, WAG Nation, which follows the extraordinary lives of five independent, professional women who also happen to be the wives and girlfriends of some of Australia’s biggest sporting stars, will premiere on Wednesday, … [Read more...]
