What rates higher that Packed to the Rafters (2nd - 1,481,000)? My Kitchen Rules (1st - 1,682,000), of course! Can Ch7 maintain these numbers once the show changes to nightly head to head kitchen battles once the instant restaurants are complete? Channel 10 only gets four shows into the Top 20; ABC1 three. The best performing non-News for Ch9 is Two Broke Girls (10th - 816,000) and it trails off from there with episodes of Big Bang Theory (ep2 11th - 776,000; ep1 12th - 725,000) & Two and a Half Men (ep1 13th - 706,000; ep2 15th - 671,000). Even the return of Top Gear (23rd - 484,000) struggled, though that's likely due to Ch9's repeated … [Read more...]

Another big Monday win for Channel 7 - both My Kitchen Rules (1st - 1,810,000) and Revenge (2nd - 1,800,000) delivering the goods. Alcatraz (11th - 932,000) did OK for Ch9 but was always going to be hard up against Ch7's latest juggernaut. Both new and recent episodes of The Big Bang Theory (3rd - 1,374,000; 7th - 1,067,000) somehow also managed to do well considering their competition. The highest Ch10 could draw was The Biggest Loser Australia (13th - 879,000) and one of only two programs in the Top 20. With 10 shows above one million, and a futher three shows above 800,000, this was a massive Monday night indeed. Timeslot winners … [Read more...]

Big comeback for Channel 9 to start week 2 of the 2012 ratings season, with the One Day Cricket - Australia v India Game 7 Session 2 (2nd - 1,272,000) and Nine News Sunday (1st - 1,395,000) leading the charge (though 9 News won only in SYD, MEL & ADL). Ch7's line up was strong behind it with Sunday Night (4th - 1,075,000), Border Security (7th - 1,021,000), The Force (5th - 1,068,000) and Bones 8th - (989,000) though couldn't convert against the cricket. Ch10's Super Sunday looking less super by the week, with now only one show above one million viewers: The Project (23rd - 308,000), Young Talent time (16th - 716,000), Modern Family (6th - … [Read more...]

A casual Saturday night leads to casual ratings. Seven News (1st - 1,094,000) leads the pack and not too much interest anywhere else, though MOVIE: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (5th - 746,000) did pretty good early in the night. Not good news for Ch10's Saturday night trilogy of Undercover Boss USA (15th - 357,000), The Graham Norton Show (9th - 473,000) and An Idiot Abroad - The Bucket List (14th - 377,000). Not great news for Ch9's special Jamie Durie Presents G'day Cirque du Soleil (13th - 381,000) either. But then again, it is Saturday night. Timeslot winners (nationally): 6:00pm: Seven News - Ch7 6:30pm: MOVIE: … [Read more...]

Even though the One Day Cricket - Australia v Sri Lanka Game 6 Session 2 (7th - 711,000) was on, it couldn't compete with the Friday night staple of Better Homes and Gardens (4th - 921,000) taking pride of place for non-News programming (only Ch7 & Ch9 News broke one million). The Biggest Loser (10th - 607,000) & Glee (11th - 556,000) both struggled with their new timeslots, though The Project (17th - 405,000) did OK considering its location in the schedule. Timeslot winners (nationally): 6:00pm: Seven News - Ch7 6:30pm: Today Tonight - Ch7 7:00pm: Home and Away - Ch7 7:30pm: Better Homes and Gardens - Ch7 8:30pm: One Day Cricket - … [Read more...]

Hell hath no fury like Peter & Gary scorned - and that saw the audience flock to another episode of My Kitchen Rules (1st - 1,797,000). Apart from the major news services only Home and Away (4th - 1,024,000) broke one million viewers. Everything else suffered at the hands of MKR, though the second episode of CSI (Ep2 11th - 705,000; Ep1 12th - 643,000) did win the later 9:30pm slot. The Straits (19th - 540,000) sadly almost didn't rate a blip up against CSI & Grey's Anatomy (8th - 776,000), though it did better than Law & Order: SVU (21st - 460,000). The Project (23rd - 414,000) up slightly but out of the game and Excess Baggage well out of … [Read more...]

Just when you thought it couldn't get any bigger - BANG! The "Dr Evil" episode of My Kitchen Rules (1st - 1,933,000) proved great casting and good character assassination editing can make a show sing. Mid-week those sort of numbers are near unheard of, short of a State Of Origin. Please Marry My Boy (5th - 1,036,000) benefitted also for the first airing in a new timeslot. The other networks - ABC1 included, who usually have a strong Wed night - must be wondering what they need to do. Both Sherlock (8th - 876,000) and Adam Hills In Gordon Street Tonight (22nd - 495,000), usually strong shows, suffered at the fallout of the aura of a big … [Read more...]

Another big night for Channel 7, with My Kitchen Rules (1st - 1,535,000) and Packed To The Rafters (2nd - 1,445,000; 3rd - 1,252,000) wiping the floor with the rest (even though Rafters premiered this season lower than last). Ch7 have 5 of the top 7 programs all above one million. NCIS (10th - 973,000; 11th - 964,000) has a decent return but against Rafters it was easily overlooked. The Biggest Loser Australia (15th - 716,000) way down again, but as if to offer Ch10 an olive branch so was The Big Bang Theory rpt (14th - 773,000) up against it on Ch9. Timeslot winners (nationally): 6:00pm: Seven News - Ch7 6:30pm: Today Tonight - … [Read more...]

A massive night for Ch7's new drama Revenge (1st - 2,067,000), exceeding what even they'd hoped for. My Kitchen Rules (2nd - 1,673,000) benefitted from it also, though remained strong in its own right. Alcatraz (8th - 1,133,000; 10th - 1,036,000) not shabby either despite it's placing. Monday night was massive with 11 shows over one million viewers(!) and an further four above 800,000. At 7pm Home and Away (9th - 1,039,000) still the clear winner though Big Bang Theory rpt (12th - 954,000) perfomed well - especially compared to Excess Baggage now languishing on GO! (118,000). The numbers for The Biggest Loser Australia (16th - 776,000) now … [Read more...]

First night of the ratings year, and thanks to One Day Cricket - Australia v India Game 4 Session 2 (7th - 1,089,000) & Nine News Sunday (1st - 1,567,000) Ch9 had a win, though some shows from other networks made a dint. Ch10's Super Sunday suffered against the cricket a little - most notably Young Talent Time (17th - 728,000) & Homeland (10th - 981,000; 16th - 820,000), both dropping below one million for the first time. The Project (21st - 389,000) near terminal up against the two consistently highest rating shows of the week. Timeslot winners (nationally): 6:00pm: Nine News Sunday - Ch9 6:30pm: Sunday Night - Ch7 7:30pm: Modern … [Read more...]
