MolksTVTalk the Podcast – S02E05

Essie Davis - Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

As if two weeks of television ratings isn't enough, now we get to talk about what people recorded and watched later too! The consolidated ratings are starting to pump out and it brings with it a surprise or two. Molk is back to report on his Sydney sojourn, and we look at the latest from DANCING WITH THE STARS and EXCESS BAGGAGE - yes, two shows that couldn't be at more opposite end of the scale. At least we've got Ch10's BREAKFAST to look forward to on Monday! UPDATE: Channel 10 have opted to launch their new early morning news program BREAKFAST two days early on Thursday 23/02/2012 to cover among other things the resignation of Kevin … [Read more...]

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

"You don't have to save the world, Phyrne." Yet the honorable Miss Phyrne Fisher seems compelled to do all she can to make 1920's Melbourne a safer place. Welcome to Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Phyrne Fisher (Essie Davis) is sassy, lightning smart, glamourous, nosy, a little older than she feels, confident... everything you want from your woman of independent means. Having recently returned to Melbourne after many years abroad, Miss Fisher is set to build herself a new life but before even she can do that her very proper Aunt Prudence (Miriam Margolyes), a well-known society matriarch, can drag Phryne off to attend her first soiree, … [Read more...]

Kitchen Cabinet

Kitchen Cabinet

It's not often you see unguarded politicians. We've become so used to them bleating that day's sound byte it is easy to forget these are people that live, breathe and eat too. Kitchen Cabinet, while no assurances of helping us accept that our politicians are human, does help give us an insight into Members of Parliament/guests like Christopher Pyne, Tanya Plibersek and Julie Bishop. It's a simple enough premise: The pollie cooks dinner, and Annabel bring dessert, and the conversation in between will be what it will be. In the first episode, Annabel announces up front that Christopher Pyne claims to have no cooking skills whatsoever so he … [Read more...]

Woodley

Woodley

This isn't exactly going to be an unbiased review. I personally think Frank Woodley is one of those few people who can make you laugh just by watching him walk down the street. To hear in 2011 he was developing his own series for TV made me conjure all sorts of visions as to what it might be... surely it would include some physical comedy; there'd have to be some mis-directed humour at the cost of the situation; and it would be Frank at his character-filled best. I was not disappointed. The opening three minutes of the first episode of Woodley is classic physical comedy, with only one word spoken. The entire first episode contains no more … [Read more...]

Interview with @bajopants & @hexsteph (@GoodGameTV #GGTV)

Good Game

Steph "Hex" Bendixsen and Stephen "Bajo" O'Donnell - host of ABC2's Good Game and ABC3's Good Game SP (Spawn Point) - are passionate people. Speaking with them you learn very quickly that they aren't just "presenters" who turn up for filming and that's it; they're gamers of note in their own right and spend hours playing to review games thoroughly and log footage for the show, as well as editing and pre-recording for the show. Bajo & Hex have become a very popular team, inundated with fans when they attended the EB Games Expo on the Gold Coast in 2011. They've worked hard to gain the support of the Australian gaming community and this is … [Read more...]

Launching with new Cordell Jigsaw production Megatruckers A&E is a solid addition to the Foxtel package offering. A vast smattering of Sydney media attended the launch and got to feel some of the excitement … [Read more...]

Dario Russo & Sean James Taylor - Danger 5

Well here we go - the first week of ratings, and SteveMolk & Josh are back with another podcast episode to educate, confuse and horrify. Kerri-Anne resurfaces, Sunrise has a nasty case of the delays, Channel 7 finally get their Revenge, House gets cancelled two seasons too late just as it's about to start screening in Australia - there's just so much to talk about. Recorded on Valentine's Day (for all the lovers out there) because Molk had some commitments in SYD on Wednesday... but you'll hear all about that too. Oh, and Josh was REALLY sick. On this week's show: The 2012 MOLKIES! (2:50) THE BIGGEST LOSERs fall in love. … [Read more...]

First promo for @TenBreakfast (#Breakfast)

Channel 10's Breakfast

Well isn't this fun. Look at those guys having fun. Andrew seems like a fun guy. So does Paul - but look out, he might say what he really thinks (in a fun way though). There's Kathryn, reminding us she's a mum and she's fun too. How much fun is Magdelena? She loves the weather because it's so much fun. Fun. That's what Ch10 want you expect from their upcoming Breakfast, starting Monday 27 Feburary at 6am, running for three hours each day. The show will be split somewhat: the first hour from 6am will be seen as "Breakfast – Early" and more news-based; the final two hours from 7am will carry the "Breakfast" moniker and though still … [Read more...]

MolksTVTalk the Podcast – S02E03

Ash London & Scott Tweedie - The Loop

For the second time ever Josh & SteveMolk get to sit across from each other and talk turkey about television. It's totally paying off, though our gags and wild forays into uncharted and unrelated territory remain. There was lots to discuss, though certainly the hottest topic was the bumping of EXCESS BAGGAGE from Ch9 to GO! starting next week. What went wrong? Well, everything and nothing. See the dichotomies we propose?! So Yin & Yang. In the midst of the crazy is a great interview with Ash & Scott from Eleven's new music program The Loop, too... though they were so pizza powered you can't tell where the crazy stops and the … [Read more...]

Radio keeps me pretty busy these days. So busy I'm becoming quite good at it, and someone should employ me to do it. Ahem.
