Brett Mason, by his own admission, has gotten where he has so far through tenacity and hard work. Taking the chance to work for the local paper as a cadet journalist during school paid off and opened a career the young journalist could have only dreamed of. Currently stationed in London as Network Ten's European Correspondent means long hours for live crosses and journeys into Libya and Egypt at some of the most dangerous times in recent history. Have you got your digital set-top box or digital TV ready to go? It's time. For all the regions pictured the analog television switch off happens tomorrow, meaning the only way you'll be able to get free-to-air broadcast television will be either through your Austar connection or a terrestrial antenna (the kind you have on your roof). Nine’s iPad App Delivers A Late News Bulletin

There's a void in late night news bulletions on commercial free-to-air TV. Sure, we get updates through the night, but invariably they are pre-records post the 6pm news bulletin and in Queensland's case can often be that recorded an extra hour earlier from Sydney or Melbourne. The way we consume TV is rapidly changing. It's not always about the big screen in the corner/on the wall, people can now get their fix on the go via their tablet or mobile device, and not just free to air TV. With the acceptance of game consoles into the lounge room and onto the big screen, the delivery of television via that medium was always coming. Our breakfast TV viewing habits continue to be a fertile battleground for Channels 7 & 9. But the battle is tight, and when a market looks like dipping an outside broadcast (OB) is called and hosts & crew hop on a plane and jet off somewhere to "make the happy" live. With South East Queensland the current focus, The Today Show moved into Ipswich last week (01/07/2011) to celebrate 6 months since the floods that affected the area, to deliver 3 and a half hours of brekky TV fro Queens park. The sale of the Bendigo St Richmond property signalled more than the end of an era for the Nine Network and Channel 9 Melbourne - it was like the death of a family member. For all it's slick, clean lines & fancy-schmancy tech the new studios in Docklands have some serious "settling in" to do before it gets even close to becoming part of the history of the Network. Ten Evening News tries something new

It came with little fanfare (really only a couple of tweets from host Bill McDonald), however this week the Queensland edition of Ten Evening News decided to try something new. McDonald was in a holding pattern between his 5pm news-reading duties and the 6:30pm program on Tuesday 15/03/11 and fired off a tweet asking for questions for Professor John Bell who he was to interview regarding the nuclear meltdown in Japan as a result of the tsunami.
