This new series of ads for The Biggest Loser Australia 2012 season makes me very uncomfortable. There’s a very clear undertone that by being overweight you can’t be happy in yourself or be confident enough to find (or even deserve) love. Sure, loose some pounds, but you can’t be happy until you’ve lost weight and then gained another 80kg in co-dependency? Is this the message that Channel 10 are stooping to with this new series? This is shaping to be a very interesting season of Loser in 2012…

It is Regina Spektor.
I’d also like to know who it is singing. It is the Regina Spektor arrangement but it’s not Regina singing. She’s a lot huskier and the person singing in the promo is quite pure. It’s also in a slightly different key.
According to comments in the youtube video of the promo, the singer’s name is Mariam Sawires.

Thank god it’s not Regina Spektor! I thought it wasn’t, but I was worried that it was wishful thinking – I don’t believe that she would ever sign off on something like this!
