Packed to the Rafters with a big win, although no idea why. The show has become formulaic & very base, not a patch on the first series which was at least offered a new family dynamic. Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation & the Halloween special kills it for Channel 10 at 7:30pm, with new Top Gear Australia performing admirably for a second episode for Channel 9. Channel 7 must be wondering what to do with Iron Chef Australia after it’s sadder performance this week – the introduction of MasterChef Season 1 contestant Chris Badenoch as next week’s challenger is likely their best response. It’s a shame, as the AU reboot of the Iron Chef franchise is very good, it’s just drawing too many comparisons to the original Japanese version which it very clearly is not. If anything, IC-AU is a tribute with local colour; in no way is it a copy and isn’t trying to be (the food is edible for a start). Survivor buried at 9:45pm (delayed & delayed due to late runs of TG-AU & TG-UK) performed OK but nowhere near it’s Thursday night peaks of a few years ago.
