A big result for Channel 9 with both The Block (3) and The Block – Winner Announced (1) taking out the top two non-News spots for the night, with big numbers (I told you they’d split the programs for ratings figures – a common occurrence nowadays). What is possibly more telling is the shedding of nearly 1m viewers from The Block to Warnie, not raising any hopes around how well it will perform for it’s remaining 4 episodes (Thursdays 8:30pm) and confirming everyone’s fears. Shudder. Channel 7’s The Zoo special and Channel 10’s Modern Family/Raising Hope double both suffered at the hands of another series final (a waste for Ch10 delivering good new episodes of shows, but kudos for not backing down and playing repeats). House continues to haemorrage viewers, but City Homicide performed consistent with previous weeks (although slightly up on last week’s numbers).

The biggest battle was for the network shares. Ch9 very clearly beat Ch7 & Ch 10, but once you add in pretty good performances from their respective digital multi-channels, Ch7 ended up taking the night on consolidated performance by 0.5% – thanks in no small part to a 4.5% share for 7mate courtesy the Blue Harvest Family Guy special.
