Let’s just take it as given – any time that My Kitchen Rules (1st – 1,638,000) is on telly, it’ll win. BIG. It pays off for the shows immediately following it too, with Grey’s Anatomy (8th – 779,000) but the drop off was noticeable other than MKR & the Ch7/Ch9 news. The really interesting moves was the “soft” launch of Ch10’s Breakfast (83rd – 51,000) – meant to start this coming Monday morning, it went early to cover the Rudd/Gillard leadership issue (but didn’t go live in markets no AEDT). A good start, but lots of room to improve.

To give some perspective, the brekky shows lined up like this (does not account for shows that extended beyond 9am):
Ch7 – Sunrise (25th – 399,000)
Ch9 – Today (27th – 348,000)
ABC1 – ABC News Breakfast (78th – 56,000)
Ch10 – Breakfast (83rd – 51,000)

Timeslot winners (nationally):
6:00pm: Seven News – Ch7
6:30pm: Today Tonight – Ch7
7:00pm: Home and Away – Ch7
7:30pm: My Kitchen Rules – Ch7
8:30pm: Grey’s Anatomy – Ch7
9:30pm: Desperate Housewives – Ch7

Channel 7 won the night (24.9%), followed by Channel 9 (16.5%), Channel 10 (12.4%) & ABC1 (10.9%).
