Primary Channels

Welcome Week 9. A tight race between Ch7 & Ch9 delivered a see-saw effect to viewing habits last night across all the channels. While Sunday nights are still big, they tend to not have the strongest programming end to end – there are other nights in the week that are more compelling, with more people watching. Modern Family won it’s half hour, however a tight competition with Ch7 & Ch9 means Ch10 didn’t win the 7:30pm hour. 60 Minutes again delivered 150K more viewers than Sunday Night, however at different times and the market at 6:30pm on Sunday is still settling into their night’s schedule. This battle will heat up as the year progresses, that’s a promise. The 9:30pm timeslot was won by only the smallest of margins (6K).

Timeslot winners (nationally):
6:00pm: Seven News – Ch7
6:30pm: Biggest Loser: Families – Ch10
7:30pm: 60 Minutes – Ch9
8:30pm: Bones – Ch7
9:30pm: Castle – Ch7

Channel 7 wins, but not by much due to the strong ratings performance of the other Ch9 shows.

Digital Multi-channels

It’s obvious that the Networks are programming away from their digital multi-channels on nights they want all the attention on their primarys. A two horse race between GO! & 7Two, the former victorious. Where GO! has traction however, GEM is still playing catch up with the station relegated to a distant 4th place. Eleven also performed poorly – well below it’s normal audience share.

The performances from 7Two and 7mate completed the clean sweep for the 7 Network, 1% ahead on total audience from the 9 Network.
