It looks like all the people who’ve been watching the flood coverage have gotten out to volunteer – or at least the Today Show audience have. The One Day International cricket helped win the night for Channel 9 rather convincingly, with people further turning back to regular programming as the shift from survival back to day-to-day continues. Interesting that a lot of people hung around to watch Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 2 – perhaps looking for some of that famous Ch9 nostalgia to remember Gibson as a wacky mullet-wearing cop with a partner who was “too old for this shit”, instead of the old racist crazy man he’s become.

As long as there are US sitcom & old British comedies/serials to broadcast, the digital multi-channels will be fine. NZ’s Next Top Model was pretty special – just hearing the cattiness in the NZ accent made it even more special (if that was possible). Smallville debuted not too bad, but not awesome – suggesting it’s target market has already downloaded and viewed the episodes just starting to air on Eleven.
