As expected, Junior MasterChef nailed the competition. It didn’t do as well as it’s premiere episode but still very respectable, capping of an evening win for Channel 10 (peaked at 2.24m). It put The X Factor to shame – which, even though it’s final episode is next week, is unlikely to match it (be prepared, Channel 7). It would have been very telling to see the two grand finals go against each other. Channel 9 effectively bowed out of the contest by offering all repeats from 7pm – 9:30pm. Still, somehow, for some reason, all three Two and a half Men episodes rated above 950,000. I weep for the Australian television-viewing public. The first episode of ABC1’s Family Confidential, this week featuring the Lowy family, performed well considering the competition & sets up what will be an interesting series.

Even with only 1 additional digital multi-channel, Ten still won the night overall. Ahh, the difference a good-quality, well-produced, intelligent marquee show makes.
