News again above one million for Ch7 (1st; 1,169,000) & Ch9 (2nd; 1,147,000), & seven shows between 800,000 and one million – pretty good business for an non-ratings season Sunday night. The battle of the magazine Christmas shows was won soundly by Ch9 – Christmas with the Australian Women’s Weekly (3rd; 928,000) beat Ch7’s Christmas with the Stars (9th; 801,000). Across the day and into the evening it was Ch9’s show, with both sessions of the Second Test – AUS vs NZ rating OK (was it a rainy day on the East Coast of Australia on Sunday? Yes it was…), and even The Cricket Show (11th; 741,000) pulled decent figures. The kind Ch10 would kill for at the moment. It’s A Knockout (14th; 703,000) continues it’s slide into ratings obscurity as one of only three shows in the Top 20 for the network. ABC1 is on a winner with Upstairs Downstairs (4th; 916,000), meeting the needs of a Downton Abbey-deprived nation.
