500 episodes is a rare occurrence in television these days. With so little local television made in Queensland anymore it’s a spectacular achievement for the team at TPD Media as this week they celebrate the 500th ep of Creek to Coast.

“I think the key is that the whole team, both on-screen and behind the camera, practice what we preach. When we’re not out filming the fishing, camping or four-wheel driving, we’re doing the exact same thing with our friends and families,” offers host Scott Hillier. “We follow a pretty simple but effective formula – find interesting people, spend a day having fun with them, and film exactly what happens.”

It’s worked well for the TPD team, who not only deliver Creek to Coast, but also the very successful Queensland Weekender & Great South East lifestyle series for Channel 7 Brisbane. A stable of enjoyable hosts, led by Hillier and including Martin Bowerman, Gary Howard, Roger Vickery, Liz Cantor & Kimberley Busteed, picturesque Queensland, 3 amazing cooks in Chef Andrew Mirosch, Sally Jenyns & Frank “Tommo” Thompsen, and a local production crew consistently deliver strong content targeted for a local market. The resources shared between the three programs also allow for a great nursery for young talent to gain valuable screen experience.

Developed in response to a call for a dedicated outdoor adventure program specializing in fishing, camping and four-wheel driving, Creek to Coast has more than delivered to the brief. Watching the 500th show you see why Qld audiences continue to tune in – it’s marvellously shot, more than capbably hosted and while the action is plentiful it’s the amazing locations that make the images leap from the screen. And that’s a big fish.

12 years, 500 episodes, and still going strong. Congratulations Creek to Coast and TPD – here’s to another 500 more!
