The two most successful hosts in talk show history, Sir Michael Parkinson and Sir David Frost, turn the tables on each other when Channel Nine screens two exclusive interviews in a special presentation on Monday, March 7 and 14, at 9.30pm. The two have interviewed anybody who was worth speaking with from public life (and a few that weren’t – Meg Ryan, anyone?!), so to have these television legends interview each other are moments not to bre missed. From the press release:
Michael Parkinson and David Frost begins on March 7 with Parkinson: The Frost Interview. “Parky”, on a set complete with his theme song and famous staircase, will engage Frost, with no subject off limits.
David Frost’s television career started in the 1960s with the brilliant satirical BBC series, That Was the Week That Was. He is best known for his programs with world leaders, most notably Richard Nixon. Frost famously risked his personal fortune and reputation to secure the sensational interview with the disgraced US President that was recreated in the movie Frost/Nixon.
Frost will recount his colourful career in inimitable style, highlighted by archival footage of some of his most memorable moments.
Then on March 14 at 9.30pm, it’s Frost on Parkinson. With Parky in the hot seat, Frost will fire off the questions about his rise to stardom on television in the UK and Australia in a career spanning more than 40 years. In more than 800 shows, Parkinson has interviewed over 2000 guests and unearthed many of today’s most famous talents, including Billy Connolly. Throughout the interview viewers will be privy to classic moments from Parkinson’s own extensive archive.
Michael Parkinson and David Frost offers a rare glimpse into the lives of two titans of television whose careers have shadowed each other since the 1960s. They will reminisce about their time together launching breakfast television on an unsuspecting British public, and the way they’ve dealt with fame. They will also put the modern phenomenon of celebrity under the microscope and discuss whether their special style of interviewing that enthralled viewers around the world has gone forever.
