It’s 2011 already? Seriously?!

I can remember the year kicking off – in fact, I can remember last New Year’s Eve – but so much has happened. Channel 9 have a line up for the housebound, those that choose to have an early night, or those getting on the turps at home… starting with a review of the year’s events, then the early fireworks, something musical with Richard Wilde, then the late fireworks. Happy New Year. From the press release:

We kick off our New Year’s Eve coverage with 2010 – The Way It Was at 7.30pm hosted by Peter Overton. Relive the year’s biggest stories with the people and reporters who brought them to you. Featuring: Round the World Sailor, Jessica Watson; Robert Penfold; Laurie Oakes; Allison Langdon, Ken Sutcliffe; Mark Burrows and Richard Wilkins.

Then we cross to Cameron Williams, Alicia Gorey and Jaynie Seal as Channel Nine sees in the New Year in style, LIVE from the Lord Mayor’s Party at the Opera House. Nine’s New Year’s Eve broadcast on Friday, December 31, begins at 8.40pm with the family fireworks hosted by Cameron and Alicia, joining a host of celebrities and special guest performers backstage to keep viewers up with all the action behind the scenes. The Jersey Boys will perform a foot stomping medley from their hit musical show and we join Jaynie Seal with some very special children in the Royal Botanic Gardens to fire up the family show.

From 9.15pm the celebration will be well underway as Richard Wilkins presents Party Zone 2010: Hits and Stars – two jam-packed hours of the best in music entertainment. Party Zone will feature a stack of hot acts, from current favourites like Pink, Ke$ha and Amy Meredith, to the classic chart-toppers Michael Jackson, Elvis and more. The show will kick off with sure-fire floor fillers from Alexandra Burke and Beyonce.

Wilkins will look back at some of the music tours that have made the year so memorable and give viewers the lowdown on the who’s who of visiting acts to watch out for in 2011. Then it’s LIVE from 11.45pm as we say farewell to 2010 and see in 2011 with Sydney’s iconic spectacular fireworks finale – one of the world’s great New Year’s Eve celebrations.
