The fifth in a series of five where I interview the Heads of News and Current Affairs for the five free to air networks.

Rob Raschke has been at the helm of Seven’s National News for nearly a year, stepping into it from the Brisbane News Director role where he oversaw the team’s rise to the ratings top. He’s certainly got some challenges on his hands if the ratings are the only thing you read, though still over 1.6 million viewers tune in to see his people deliver their product at 6pm, along with the hours of other content the produce during the day. Add to that the rumour the hour-long bulletin he championed at the start of 2013 will return permanently in 2014… Raschke’s not short on ideas.

Seven have remained locked in fierce competition with Nine throughout 2013 and efforts from both sides are well catalogued. A huge thanks to Rob for his candour and willingness to share his ideas in this interview.
