Media speculation on the fate of new Channel 9 reality weight loss program Excess Baggage hit fever pitch this afternoon as traditional and new media outlets raced each other to predict/confirm the axing of the show. At the time of this post the Nine Network were yet to confirm or deny any move despite pressure on the schedule given the lacklustre performance of the show.
For fans of the show hope remains it will likely be moved across to digital multi-channel GO! from Mon 13 February at the earlier time of 6:30pm, with the timeslot on Ch9 to be filled by more episodes of the Network’s “go to saviour” The Big Bang Theory rather than axed entirely.
News however from one of the judges/mentors of Excess Baggage Dr Joanna McMillan on her Facebook page suggests speculation may be premature:
“Just confirming that Nine are not axing Excess Baggage as per media news today. It does look like there will be a small change in time slot from next week that’s all.”
Dr McMillan tweeted this also:
