Sure, Angry Boys has pretty much polarised the viewing audience with it’s language, it’s content and the comedic delivery. I’m a fan – I like Chris Lilley’s back catalogue and I like Angry Boys, so it was surprising to see that someone has delivered a video like this (I was tipped off to the existence of the video on YouTube by a reader). No question that Angry Boys is pushing the boundaries, and delivering characters that are parodies of true to life characters. Perhapts that’s why people are so uncomfortable with the series… it cuts too close to the bone for them?
A word of caution: if you are offended by Angry Boys, then this video is sure to confuse you.
Angry Boys – Wed 9pm, ABC1.
I think people don’t like it cause they don’t get satire.
It will be interesting to see once all is said and done how the series played in the UK and US. Personally I find that there is very little light and shade at the moment and it appears to be following the same structure as his previous series, which makes it a bit predictable but knowing Chris Lilley the series will climax with a cringe-filled but heartfelt finale.
