Finally. FINALLY! After weeks of silence and dragging the chain, Channel 9 have finally announced that Survivor: Redemption Island will air in Australia. They’re starting on the right foot too, by airing the first two eps back to back. Here’s hoping they do that until we’re caught up.
I’ve seen the first ep courtesy a network-supplied preview disc, and it’s amazing. To have Boston Rob and Evil Russell back on board is a stroke of genius, as is the redemption island concept. It’ll be great to see it finally. Tune in, and send a clear message. From the press release:
EXCLUSIVE TO GO!
SURVIVOR: REDEMPTION ISLANDThis season of Survivor will feature a new twist. For the first time, castaways who have been eliminated from the game will have a chance to seek redemption and return for a crack at the $1 million prize.
The battle unfolds in Nicaragua where 18 castaways will be divided into two tribes of nine: the Ometepe Tribe and the Zapatera Tribe. The tribes comprise individuals from different backgrounds who all have the same ultimate goal: to be the Sole Survivor.
While 16 of the contestants are new, Russell Hantz and “Boston Rob” Mariano are former castaways who have been given another chance to compete for the big prize.
While Russell and Rob will join separate tribes at the start of the game, it’s up to each tribe to decide if they’ll welcome the knowledge of an experienced veteran, or view these former castaways as a threat in the ultimate battle to outwit, outplay and outlast one another.
Each week at Tribal Council the castaway voted off will be sent to the isolated Redemption Island to live alone in exile. To stay on Redemption Island, they must compete in a duel against the next person eliminated at Tribal Council. The winner of each duel earns the right to go on fighting for the opportunity to return to the game and compete for the title of Sole Survivor, while the loser is sent home.
SURVIVOR: REDEMPTION ISLAND – 2 hour premiere on Tue 22/03 7:30pm, GO!
When are they showing next episodes? No sign of it on program. Thanks.
GO! announced today that next week and the following at 7:30pm Tuesday they will run 2 episodes together to help us catch up. Yay!
I am not impressed about it being shown on GO channel as we don’t get this in the country. I have spoken to WIN tv here and they have no idea if we are getting it. This sucks big time that us country people miss out.
Whereabouts are you Jeanne? Do you have a set top box or Digital TV? Are you getting the other digital channels OK where you are?
WA country viewers – it begins TONIGHT on win – 10pm for 2 hours. Woohoo.
Hopefully WIN has fixed their reception as it’s been crappy here in the mid-west for over 2 weeks!!
what have they done to redemption island where is it
I am appalled that Survivor was pulled without warning! Channel 9 is treating loyal fans of the show with total contempt!
The TV guide has Big Bang theory in Survivor’s Tuesday 7:30 slot, Survivor is nowhere to be found in this weeks listings. Is Survivor still going to be aired on ‘GO!’ and if so, when?
Sadly, Channel 9 (in their wisdom) are resting it this week. Expect a double ep next week, I’d imagine (no news yet confirming this).
NOT HAPPY
sadly-c9 doesnt give a stuff-a program aired for 10 years-popular -gets booted to an inferior frequency-where people miss out or are forced like me to buy equipment …
and then like with all good shows-mucks round with scheduling-on an inferior freq???
i rang up wanted to know the oaf that decided this for such a popular series-answer-we are interested in your feedback
c9….pox on the programmers
What a joke, it’s so hard to find when Survivor when a new episode is coming back on in the first place as you need to be all over the digital channels, now that there are so many! We just watch alot of this on You Tube and other sites now, because we get sick of being stuffed around. Who in there right mind, pulls a show halfway through and without any warning at the end of last weeks show! Grrrr, they treat us with contempt!
Where is Survivor tonight! Can’t find a listing anywhere. Good grief!
For no apparent reason – not on. Will return April 26 at 8:30pm, but that will have us be at least 2 weeks behind (again). Crazy.
Thanks SteveMolk! Glad someone knows what’s happening!
As usual it would appear that channel couldn’t give a rats about is viewers. They take good programs like Survivor off and put some other crappy show on without advertising when Survivor will appear again. All these corporations are interested in is getting the advert dollars in and putting as many adverts on as the can. Just watch before the votes are ever read out on Survivor, they cut to as many commercials as they can. Why they even cut the ends off programs to go to the next one as has happened wit Hot Seat.
Channel 9, you are hopeless.
Well done Ch9 you have done it again!! Why do you continually sabotage yourself? First you put Survivor on one of your digital channels, even though in the past it was rating just fine. Then your latest wisdom is to take it off, just as the show that was winning the timeslot has finished! Finally, when is it resturning? 8:30pm Tuesdays, one of the most competitive timeslots of the week, and you have put iy up against Sea Patrol which is on your own network!!! It is hard enough for Aussie drama to find an audience, do you have to make it even harder?
siickkkkkk offf thiis with such a good show for peat sake 9 get it right
I haven’t watched Survivor on Channel 9 in years. If you want to watch it without ads just do what I do and download it straight from the States as soon as it has been shown. Just go to http://www.eztv.it and download it from there along with the Amazing Race. MMMMMM no ads just before the vote is counted on Survivor and no ads just before the last two teams racing in to the mat on Amazing Race. The networks might get the idea people aren’t happy with them if nobody is watching them because of too many ad breaks. About the only thing I watch on the network TV stations now is the news and it doesn’t bother me whether I see that or not because I also read the papers.
