GREAT SOUTHERN LAND is an amazing new documentary series running on ABC1 on Sunday nights, 7:30pm. Host PROFESSOR STEVE SIMPSON stepped into the hosting role knowing full well the series would take a unique look at Australia, with sweeping shots from planes and put him in all sorts of precarious positions off the ground even though he’s not comfortable with heights. Brave man indeed.
It’s proving to be a jaw-dropping look at our nation and the stunning visuals only add to the themes of each episode, including the contrast of the land’s supply for its inhabitants and the way we get about the place every day. Cordell Zapruder Jigsaw have delivered another incredible series and in this discussion with Prof Simpson we talk about his background as a scientist and how working on the series changed his perspective.
