Today I was very lucky to speak with Andy Allen, the newly crowned winner of the 2012 season of MASTERCHEF AUSTRALIA. As you’d imagine he’s caught up in a whirlwind of media, interview and appearance responsibilities but his is soldiering on with a smile on his face and adrenaline pumping through his veins.
In our discussion Andy talks about his plans after MasterChef and leveraging his favourite part of the prize he’s just won – the chance to work in some of the best kitchens in Australia. We discuss how he feels about being mentioned in the same breath as Julie Goodwin, Adam Liaw and Kate Bracks, and his surprise pop up in the premiere of MASTERCHEF ALL STARS.
He’s been an inspiring person to watch – always keen to improve himself and do better at each given opportunity. It was great to speak with Andy and hear the enthusiasm he has on-screen is genuine… I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of him in the kitchen and on TV in the coming months/years.
