Start of 2014 ratings season.
It was always going to be massive, especially given the wall-to-wall promotion Seven gave it through the tennis. INXS: Never Tear Us Apart (1st – 1,974,000) rates extremely well for part 1, so expectations high for part 2. A rescheduled Schapelle (7th – 1,022,000) still draws over the magic million but not even close to it’s opposition. Rake (13th – 645,000) season three premiere suffers most, though catch-up and iview figures should assist hugely for this great series.
The 6:30pm battle fared no better for some. My Kitchen Rules (3rd – 1,640,000) vs The Block: Fans v Favourites (5th – 1,274,000) v the premiere of So You Think You Can Dance (18th – 466,000).
Timeslot winners (nationally):

7:30pm: Sunday Night – Ch7
8:30pm: INXS: Never Tear Us Apart – Ch7

Seven Network won the night (37.6%), followed by Nine Network (27%), Ten Network (20.5%) & ABC Network (11.9%).
Thank goodness for that!
If the story of the bogan and her boogie-board pulled more viewers than INXS I’d be most upset.
