50 years is a significant milestone to celebrate, and Ten want the public’s opinion on their favourite shows. While I’m sure the snark and pain will be saved from open consumption this kind of thing strikes me as dangerous given Ten’s current ratings malaise. Still a good celebration always helps blow away the cobwebs. What is good to be reminded is some of the iconic shows that have been created for/by/aired on Ten. From the press release:

TEN turns 50 this year and to celebrate we are producing a special television event, 50 Years Young, which will go to air soon.

We want you to be part of this television landmark. Head to www.tenplay.com.au/50 and vote for your favourite homegrown TEN shows of all time.

What is your favourite TEN show? Is it Number 96, The Box, Prisoner, Carson’s Law, Puberty Blues, Neighbours, The Secret Life Of Us, Matlock Police or Offspring?

Maybe you are a fan of Bangkok Hilton, Vietnam, The Restless Years, E Street, Bodyline, The Dismissal or Return To Eden?

Does MasterChef Australia, Australian Idol, Big Brother or Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation get your vote?

And who isn’t a fan of The Project, Blankety Blanks, Perfect Match, Rove Live, The Comedy Company, Simon Townsend’s Wonder World, Bondi Rescue, The Panel, Pot of Gold, Beauty and The Beast, Thank God You’re Here and Totally Wild?

50 Years Young will include a galaxy of television stars, including Rove McManus, Bert Newton, Dr Chris Brown, Carrie Bickmore, Peter Helliar, Sandra Sully, Johnny Young, Chrissie Swann, Denise Drysdale, Claudia Karvan, Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, Samuel Johnson, Osher Gunsberg, Jennifer Hansen, Jo Stanley, Steve Vizard, Dave Hughes, Bruce Mansfield, Terence Donovan, Ian “Dicko” Dickson, Toni Pearen, Ed Phillips, the cast of Neighbours and many more.
