…and with that – MasterChef Australia is over. Well, almost. In what is either the most disgustingly brilliant or despicably horrible ratings move, the MasterChef finale starts at 6:30pm tonight and has an episode of The Renovators at 7:30pm, leaving the announcement of the winner to run from 8:30pm (the actual “winner announced” ep is scheduled for 9:15pm, so it’ll be all padding and drama until then). It will allow, however, the Renovators to move into it’s proper spot and start to build a MasterChef-sized audience (which it’s likely to do, with it’s first 1 million plus rating last week). Week 33, you’re sure not going to disappoint.

It’s a welcome return to Shaun Micallef and the team from Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, bumped out of the way for MasterChef, even the Renovators couldn’t keep them from our screen. A show that is built on the accessibility of the host and the team captains, while not taking anything seriously and inviting the whole family to play along. If you’ve not watched before, it’s a complete joy.

Another joyous occasion in that Channel 10 are blessing us with new episodes of Modern Family. Cam, Mitch, Phil, Gloria & the gang – I can’t get enough, and would move in as neighbours (especially to Cam & Mitch) in a heartbeat. A glorious celebration of life and bizarro family realities.

The second last week of The Block is upon us, and while the drama is anything but toned down (it’s what has made this season so successful at 7pm – Channel 9’s very own soapie!) the focus turns outside the house as the couples have only 1 week to complete the painting and landscaping of their houses. It’s crazy, including everyone working 30 hours straight to meet the final deadline.
