It’s welcome back to the new ratings period for week 19, and look at the hours of television that lay out before us: MasterChef, Dancing With The Stars, Sea Patrol, Australia’s Got Talent, Spicks and Specks, The Amazing Race Australia, Airways, AFP, Glee, Angry Boys, and so on. I’m almost hyper-ventilating at the thought of it all. We’re more than overdue some of these so it’s good to see them finally take their place in front of our eyeballs. The biggest battle of the week will be the launch of the new MasterChef Australia season against The TV Week Logie Awards. Everyone bags the latter (most times with good reason), however everyone still tunes in. Crazy talk.

It’s a big week for new show – and the battle begins here…

The 53rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards should bring the usual mix of interesting and bland, with a hint of disappointment. The twitter “ban” should be short lived, which will help liven up the broadcast, as will the Televised Revolution/MolksTVTalk Logies LiveCall. Beyond that, you’re pretty much on your own… but you can’t miss it, as everyone will be talking about it tomorrow.

Interestingly, Channel 10 have opted to launch season three of their MasterChef Australia behemoth over the first 90 minutes of the Logies. Some are saying this is simply cannibalising the audience, but I applaud it. When ratings come out Monday and people see that MasterChef has beaten the Logies, perhaps only then will the organisers of “TV’s Night of Nights” realise they need to lift their game.

I am usually wrong on these things, so take my ratings opinion with a grain of salt.
