He’s the geek we all needed to have, and didn’t realise it. He’s quirky, he’s funny, and he has the support of the The Chaser… so make of that what you will. Bottom line is he’s bloody funny and a completely appropriate follow up series to this latest airing of Hungry Beast. From the press release:

Lawrence Leung, star of the AFI-nominated Lawrence Leung’s Choose Your Own Adventure, returns to ABC1 with a new six-part comedy documentary series – Lawrence Leung’s Unbelievable – which premieres Wednesday June 15 at 9.30pm.

In a search for truth, intrepid investigator and comic Lawrence Leung takes a fun and fascinating journey to investigate the Unbelievable. It’s Mythbusters meets Ghostbusters as Lawrence embarks on a mind-bending quest to examine the irrational, the improbable and the impossible.
With his curious quasi-scientific research and somewhat ludicrous real-life experiments, Lawrence Leung’s Unbelievable pokes fun at our own misconceptions and tests the limits of our beliefs. His world-wide journey brings us face-to-face with the true characters of the curious world of the Unbelievable.

“Following the success of the popular Choose Your Own Adventure series, we are excited to bring viewers Lawrence’s new adventures, presented in his unique and quirky style of storytelling.” says Brendan Dahill, Controller ABC1.

“Lawrence is a fearless explorer in a world chock full of notions that bewilder us,” says Amanda Duthie, Head of ABC TV Arts & Entertainment. “He courageously tackles a world of psychics, ghosts and UFOs, a place where real magic happens.”

“Lawrence is a smart, funny and endearing comedian,” said executive producer Julian Morrow. “That’s why he prefers not to work with The Chaser.”

Lawrence has also penned stunts for two seasons of The Chaser’s War On Everything and has performed stand up comedy in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe and the Sydney Opera House.

Outside of comedy, Lawrence majored in psychology, has designed illusions for theatre shows and has even lectured at an international magicians’ conference. It is no surprise that he has always been obsessed with tricks of the mind and why we believe the unbelievable.
