In a live Grand Final decider last night, 25 year old Samantha Jade was crowned the winner of THE X FACTOR 2012, beating off competition from runner-up Jason Owen and third placed group, The Collective.

Despite being in the bottom two more times than any other contestant, Samantha Jade has been a judges favourite and made it through to the Grand Final. On being declared the winner, Samantha said, “I’m so overwhelmed! I am so delighted to be here and never thought I would win. I’ve had the most amazing experience on THE X FACTOR and loved every minute of it.”

Sammy’s mentor Guy Sebastian was thrilled to see his old friend and contestant win the prize saying, “I’m so proud of Sammy. She’s been through so much to try and make it in the music industry and I’m so thrilled she’s had this opportunity. Watch out for her, she’s going to be around for a while!”

It was an emotional night on The X Factor, with The Collective being the first finalists to be eliminated. It was then between Samantha and 18-year-old Jason Owen, with the public’s votes determining the winner.

Samantha wins a recording contract with Sony Music and a management deal. Her winning single, What You’ve Done To Me, will be available digitally on iTunes from tonight and be serviced to radio stations across the country.

Last night’s Grand Final show also saw a return from all THE X FACTOR finalists who performed with Owl City plus a beautiful performance by the Top 3 with Boys II Men, along with a performance from One Direction.
