Carly and Leighton to live the ultimate Aussie dream of being mortgage free after winning House Rules grand final

Carly Schulz and Leighton Brow were tonight crowned series one winners of HOUSE RULES and their lives have forever completely changed.

Taking home one of Australian television’s biggest prizes – their entire mortgage wiped clean – the Adelaide couple fought back tears of joy as the heart-stopping result was declared by host Johanna Griggs in the LIVE final.

The remarkable renovation competition came down to a nail-biting public vote with the pair receiving the most votes to be crowned the renovation kings.

“Are you sure?” Carly asked when told they had won. “We are the luckiest people in all of Australia.”

“We just want to thank Australia. I want to thank this beautiful girl here, I couldn’t have done it without her. We want to thank all of the contestants,” said Leighton.

They won the hard fought prize after a gruelling seven week competition, in which there were six whole house reveals, a 24-hour fix up, four garden/exterior makeovers and the final renovation challenge.

Tonight Carly, 31, and Leighton, 32, showcased their winning skills by transforming Steve and Michelle’s basement into an entertainment hub complete with bar and music area.

Runners-up Michelle Ball, 48, and Steve Ball, 49, like all teams from the series, don’t walk away empty handed after having their entire house transformed.
