Alexa from Team Delta, the 10-year-old girl with the big voice, has tonight been voted the winner of the first season of The Voice Kids Australia.

In the three-way public vote in the Grand Finale, Alexa beat Bella from Team Madden and Maddison from Team Mel to take a $50,000 music scholarship and the coveted title of The Voice Kids Australia winner.

Alexa said: “I want to thank my parents and my brother who have supported me throughout this journey, as well as the crew from the Voice Kids and everyone who got behind me on Team Delta. I would also like to thank the Coaches for their kind feedback, and of course my angel Delta, who has been my inspiration since I was very little. I have loved your kindness and great advice.”

In addition to Alexa’s prize, each singer from the Top Six has won a trip to Disneyland Los Angeles for themselves and their families for making it to the Grand Finale: Chris (Team Madden), Bella (Team Madden), Ruhi (Team Mel), Maddison (Team Mel) and Grace (Team Delta), as well as Alexa.

Alexa wowed the Coaches during her Blind Audition with her rendition of Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys. With a voice that far exceeds her young age, Alexa made all four Coaches – Mel B, Delta Goodrem, and Joel and Benji Madden of Team Madden – turn their chairs.

During the Battle Rounds, Alexa and her fellow Team Delta singers Olivia and Anthony & Tamara faced off to perform Stop (by the Spice Girls). Delta then sent Alexa through to the Sing-Offs, where she reminded the Coaches why they all hit their buttons with another powerful performance of her Blind Audition song.

Tonight, the Top Six in the Grand Finale performed a rousing version of Happy by Pharrell Williams, joined by other artists from the Voice Top 100. Alexa followed this up with a mesmerising performance of Colours of the Wind by Vanessa Williams.

After then being selected to represent Team Delta in the three-way public vote, Alexa continued to impress with a powerhouse performance of Hero by Mariah Carey, before being crowned winner of The Voice Kids.

The Voice Kids is a co-production between Shine Australia and Talpa Productions. The Australian series of The Voice Kids is filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney.
