The inclusion of 12 past MasterChef Australia contestants in a battle of culinary wits as the premise for MasterChef All Stars is an inspired one. Challenging them with such food demons as: Zumbo’s croquembouche tower; a gourmet sausage sizzle where they have to make the sausages themselves first; and the dreaded mystery box containing ingredients picked by Chefs like Nigella Lawson, Rene Redzepi & Heston Blumenthal – makes seeing them struggle or succeed all part of the fun. All that in the first week!
Four contestants from each of the first three seasons make up the teams competing for MasterChef glory as well as the chance to each raise money for a specific charity they’re representing:
2009 (blue) – Julie Goodwin, Poh Ling Yeow, Chris Badenoch, Justine Schofield.
2010 (red) – Callum Hann, Marion Grasby, Jonathan Daddia, Aaron Harvie.
2011 (yellow) – Kate Bracks, Dani Venn, Hayden Quinn, Kumar Pereira.
MasterChef All Stars – Starts Thu 7pm, Ch10.
