Ryan Harris joins the Fox Sports team for massive Cricket World Cup coverage @Foxtel

Fresh from featuring in Australia’s emphatic 2-0 series win over India, fast bowler Ryan Harris will join the Fox Sports commentary team when the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup begins next month.

Harris, who has taken 113 Test wickets for Australia, will join a star-studded commentary line-up which includes victorious Australian 1987 World Cup captain Allan Border, 1996 World Cup hero Mark Waugh and West Indian great Brian Lara.

Harris will be part of the expert panel throughout Fox Sports pre-match and lunch break coverage of key matches.

The 2015 Cricket World Cup begins on February 14, 2015, when Australia take on arch rivals England in Melbourne, after New Zealand hosts Sri Lanka to officially open the tournament across the Tasman.

“Fans will experience the full World Cup treatment with Fox Sports delivering live coverage of all 49 matches, all in high definition on a channel dedicated to the Cricket World Cup,” stated Head of Fox Sports Channels, Gary Burns

The Fox Sports Commentary team will include Brian Lara, Allan Border , Brendon Julian , Mark Waugh , Damien Fleming , Ryan Harris, Glenn McGrath, Greg Blewett, Tony Squires, Ellyse Perry, and Robert Craddock with reporters Sarah Jones and Neroli Meadows

The coverage will also include a Red Button feature for all matches providing, Fox Sports News interviews & highlights, Extensive stats & scorecards, Additional camera angles including fielding, stump or wire cam, Extended on demand highlights of key matches – toss, pitch report, captains interviews, and extended highlights

After missing selection in the World Cup squad to help prepare his body for the upcoming Ashes Tour, Ryan Harris will swap the ball for the microphone to provide ‘insider’ knowledge on the Australian side and their challengers throughout the 43-day competition.

Gary Burns, said: “Ryan showed he was a natural behind the mic when he appeared on Fox Sports’ coverage of the Pakistan tour,” said Gary Burns

“On the pitch he is known for his big heart and he brings the same passion to his commentary and the fans love it.”

“Having literally walked off the pitch into the commentary box, Ryan knows what his Aussie teammates are thinking and can get inside their opponents’ heads which will provide unrivalled insight for viewers.

For Ryan, joining the Fox Sports team for the Cricket World Cup will be a chance to stay close to the action: “I really enjoy the commentary work with Fox Sports and if I can’t play in the World Cup that will be the next best place to be and it’s great to be able to sit back and talk about it,” Harris said.
