Footy Show star Sam Newman has once again generated controversy by exposing his penis on live Television. (See the full video below)
The incident which occurred during the opening segment of the program was broadcast at 8:45pm, and predictably generated immediate controversy on social media.
The segment featured the 68 year old Newman being wheeled onstage in a hospital bed by a skimpily dressed ‘nurse’. Newman wearing only the top half of Port Adelaide pyjamas momentarily exposed his genitals while getting out of the bed.
During the segment Newman expressed his disappointment when the ‘Nurse’ spoke during the skit.
The ‘nurse’ who is believed to be a performer in an Adelaide nightclub was then encouraged to bend over and pick up a pen from the floor.
Newman once again exposed his bottom as he chased after the ‘nurse’ out the door.
The Footy Show has regularly been critised for it’s represention of women in sport. Speaking to this website today, ABC Sports Broadcaster Tracey Holmes said, “Poor old Sam Newman, belongs to a bygone era – that of Benny Hill and Dick Emery. This is 2014. Message to Sam – I guess it’s too late to say ‘grow up’, message to ‘scantily clad pretend nurse’ – wake up.”
This is the second time Newman has exposed himself on live Television, in 2001 his pants were pulled down by co-host Shane Crawford.
At a recent event celebrating the 21st Birthday of The Footy Show former host of the program Eddie McGuire stated,
“I can honestly say having observed a lot of Television over the years that with names such as Graham Kennedy, Bert Newton and Paul Hogan, Sam Newman is the most original, successful, talented and generous performer that I’ve ever seen on Australian TV”
