In a move that has been expected for some time, Foxtel has confirmed it is slashing the price of its VoD movie service Presto to $9.99 per month.

Presto launched in March offering a monthly pass to stream Foxtel Movies both live and on-demand,  with a regularly updating collection of great films, ad-break free, for $19.99 a month.

However with new competitors SteamCo  and Netflix expected to launch in the Australian market soon for a rumoured $12.95 per month, Presto was always going to struggle to compete.

The new pricing means Presto is now a cheaper option than what many Australians are currently paying to access the US version of Netflix. Presto’s movie line-up is certainly far more impressive than Netflix, however without TV Shows many customers will prefer the Netflix option.

The new pricing, effective as of Sunday 17 August, puts Presto at the forefront of internet movie streaming services offering the most blockbuster hits at the best available value. Today’s news comes on the heels of Presto’s arrival on Chromecast, bringing it to household big screens.

Existing Presto customers will be rewarded with one months free service before being converted to the new pricing plan.

Presto offers an intuitive customer interface and delivers the best in local and international movies including curated collections, recommendations and critics’ reviews. Viewers can enjoy Presto on TV via Chromecast, selected Android tablets, iOS tablets and PC/Mac computers*. The Presto app is available on the Apple and Samsung app stores and on Google Play.
