Dark Net is a startling new eight part docu-series that explores a world where virtual and physical lives collide in ways that are both surprising and at times, deeply disturbing.
With our insatiable dependence on technology and connectivity, the internet is indispensable for billions of people around the world, enabling them to connect in ways they never could before.
Each half-hour episode of Dark Net explores a subject such as bio-hacking, cyber-kidnapping, digital warfare, online cults, pornography addiction, the webcam sex trade and more.
Dark Net unveils the dangers of the internet, raising cautionary, thought-provoking conversations about technology and privacy and reveals an ominous and disturbing perspective of a digitally connected world where our every action is collected and stored.
The series has been developed and produced by Vocativ, a technology and media company that applies exclusive proprietary technology to search and monitor the deep web: the 80% of the internet that lies beyond the reach of regular search engines.
And it’s this deep, dark web that’s being exploited by a dangerous underworld of cyber predators and criminals. But even on the so-called surface web, imprisoned hackers and trolls surf alongside bondage fetishists, virtual lovebirds and life-tracking disciples, often in plain site.
Episode 1: Crush. Technology is opening up new possibilities for physical, sexual and romantic relationships with astonishing speed enabling us to connect in way we never could before. But is seeking a virtual human connection a positive step forward or are we stunting our intimate lives?
