BOXING DAY TEST ACHIEVES RECORD NUMBERS WITH MORE THAN 2.8 MILLION VIEWERS

Watched by more than 2.8 million viewers across the country, the start of the Fourth 2013 Commonwealth Bank Ashes Test between Australia and England at the MCG dominated Boxing Day television viewing – achieving the best results for the day since 2006.

Nine’s coverage of Day 1 attracted a National (5 City Metro + Regional) peak audience of more than 2.826 million and an average audience of 2.208 million with Total People (5 City Metro + Regional) (** OzTam figures below).

The Ashes: Fourth Test Australia V England easily dominated its timeslot across all key demographics; People 25-54, 18-49, 16-39 and Total People.

The day’s Third Session attracted a huge average of 1.5 million viewers (the second highest session figure ever achieved for the Boxing Day Test since 2006) with both earlier Sessions achieving over 1.3million (over the 5 City Metro).

Cricket Australia Live – The Official App recorded more than 6.736 million visits.

The App is now on over 587K devices – allowing fans to view match stats and figures, watch video highlights, or stream the Channel Nine coverage live.

With more than 30,736 #Ashes tweets for the first day of play of the Fourth Test, #Ashes tweets dominated Australian Social Trends yesterday, peaking with 375 tweets per minute during session 1 of play. More than 548,028#Ashes tweets have been tweeted so far throughout the Series.
