Prime Video has released the first-look trailer for its upcoming Australian Amazon Original documentary, Kick Like Tayla.

The new documentary celebrates the career of one of Australia’s most recognisable athletes, Tayla Harris, as she strives for sporting greatness amidst ever-increasing media and social controversy.

With unprecedented access into the life of the NAB AFL Women’s Competition (AFLW) player and boxing champion, Kick Like Tayla chronicles the public and personal challenges Tayla Harris has faced in her sporting career to date.

Both Tayla and her inner circle provide insights into how she has chosen to use her platform as a power for good.

Kick Like Tayla demonstrates how community sentiment towards female athletes, and females more broadly, is now shifting, and how voices like Tayla Harris are imperative to the changing conversation.

The 1-hour documentary dives deep into Harris’s success in junior football and the excitement of being the Brisbane Lions’ first marquee AFLW player, her relocation to football’s spiritual home in the state of Victoria to play for Carlton and then Melbourne, and the intense off-field scrutiny she has faced along the way.

Kick Like Tayla also tackles the aftermath of the 2019 photo of her infamous kick for goal that should have been celebrated for its athletic appeal, but resulted in Harris being confronted by horrendous sexist abuse after the image was published. Commentators and those close to Tayla explain how she stood up to online abuse from trolls and now focuses on being a positive influence for young female athletes.

Kick Like Tayla is created by Amazon Studios, The Australian Football League and Den of Martians. Gil Marsden serves as director and producer, along with producer Beth Wallis from The Australian Football League.

KICK LIKE TAYLA premieres exclusively on Prime Video from May 27 in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, US, UK and South Africa and will launch globally on June 17
