TONIGHT ON THE PROPOSAL: BISEXUAL HAIRDRESSER LISA AND PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER BLAKE DEFIED THE ODDS AND BECAME ENGAGED IN JUST ONE HOUR!
Lisa, who doesn’t see gender when it comes to relationships, said her decision to appear on THE PROPOSAL marked the first time she had made herself available to men and women equally.
Searching for a “humble, caring and compassionate partner,” Lisa whittled the eight eligible singles down to 25-year-old Blake and 30-year-old make-up artist and mum of two, Rhiannon.
When it was time for the two singles to finally see their mystery suitress face-to-face for the first time, both were overwhelmed.
“I’m a bit lost for words to be honest,” said Blake when meeting Lisa. “It’s more than I ever expected. Amazing. I haven’t been this nervous in a very long time.”
“I can’t stop smiling. You are so beautiful,” said Rhiannon.
It was also a pivotal moment for Lisa who said she was moved by Blake and Rhiannon’s reactions and comments. “It’s more than what I’d hoped for given everything that I’ve had to go through to get here.
“It may not seem like a big thing, but it is, it’s huge. If I can encourage just one person that felt that they couldn’t come out …then that’s amazing.”
Next, it was time for the singles to take the ultimate leap of faith and propose with Rhiannon taking the lead, explaining there’s much more to her than being a single mum.
“I prioritise my children very much. My kids mean the world to me, but they don’t define who I am. They make me who I am, a better person, but I still have so much room in my heart for someone else. That’s why I’m here standing in front of you hoping that you will let me in and let me love you the way I love my kids and share my life with you. Lisa will you marry me?
Next to propose was Blake, making an effort to comfort a visibly nervous Lisa.
“It takes so much courage for you to even be here and I respect that so much. I want you to know I’ve travelled the world for the last seven years and I feel like it has matured me as a man to step up to the plate and do what I want to do – meet the woman of my dreams.
“God willing, hopefully it’s you. I’ve always had a dream to propose under the Eiffel tower, to make you feel that extra bit special (cue background Eiffel tower image!) Will you marry me?
It was then decision time for Lisa. “Blake, that maturity comes across from you. At the start I thought it may have been a bit of a façade, but then through the rounds, you really opened up…there’s something that really draws me to you, that’s why you’re here.
“I would like to accept the proposal from Blake.”
