The Australian factual series Mega Zoo returns with new episodes tonight to provide viewers unprecedented access to the largest and oldest wildlife operation in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Mega Zoo is made up of the three major sites managed across the state by Zoos Victoria: Melbourne Zoo in the heart of the city, Werribee Open Range Zoo with its magnificent expanse of savannah, and the stunning Healesville Sanctuary which specialises in native Australian wildlife.

In this week’s return episode, while navigating the Covid-19 global pandemic, the staff members must ensure proper care for their animals; keepers spring into action when dental surgery is needed for elderly tiger Binjai.

In this family-friendly series, viewers will go on an exclusive adventure as cameras are allowed for the first time into parts of the zoos that have been off-limits for more than 100 years.

Cameras will follow the work of 800 dedicated staff who look after more than 5000 extraordinary animals across all three zoos.

This passionate group of zookeepers and veterinarians care for an amazing menagerie that presents equally amazing challenges: treating a fun-loving elephant with broken tusks and training a rhino toddler who likes to trash trucks, to name just two.

Mega Zoo is produced for Nine by WTFN.

MEGA ZOO AIRS MONDAY, APRIL 11, AT 7.30PM ON NINE AND 9NOW
