Depending on the area you live, you may have seen a promo for Hey Hey: 100 Years as either ‘coming soon’ or airing Easter Sunday on Seven.
TV Blackbox can confirm the Hey Hey 100 Years special will air Easter Sunday, but only in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Sydney, Brisbane and Perth viewers will see the special one week later on Sunday April 24.
The programming decision has been made to accommodate the traditional Anzac Eve AFL match featuring Melbourne vs Richmond which will be broadcast live in prime time on Sunday 24th April on the main channel for Victorian and South Australian viewers.
All of this is part of a big Q2 launch week for Seven that includes the new season premiere of The Voice on Monday 18 April and the return of The Good Doctor and Britain’s Got Talent.
Filmed recently in Melbourne, the upcoming Hey Hey special will feature a tribute to Shane Warne and classic clips featuring stars including Clint Eastwood and Kylie Minogue. Two more Hey Hey specials are anticipated to air later this year.
The broadcasting of this special comes just weeks after the passing of the man behind Ossie Ostrich, Ernie Carroll. The TV pioneer was the co-executive producer of the program and played a significant role in training many of the performers that appeared on-air.
