The Melbourne Cup Carnival: Melbourne Cup – The Race (1st – 2,168,000) naturally wins the day, though down 20% on viewership from last year. Seven smashed it with great (if at times entirely vacuous coverage again).
At night it was all Seven again, particularly with Dancing With The Stars (5th – 1,134,000) owning the night. The second last ep of Big Brother (11th – 884,000) for the year still consistent and strong in the key demos. NCIS (14th – 699,000) Ten’s best, and other than the news the only thing in the Top 20! Where was Recipe to Riches (26th – 434,000) you ask? Well… Revolution (ep1: 21st – 498,000; ep2: 29th – 388,000) didn’t fare much better and Super Fun Night (24th – 453,000) has all but done its dash.

Channel 7 won the night (25.2%), followed by Channel 9 (18%), Channel 10 (12.4%) & ABC1 (11.3%).
