After much sizzle across social media networks and more than one complaint about event ticketing for tapings, The Voice Australia has scored one of the biggest/toughest starting airdates in the country – leading into the 2012 Logie Awards. The blind auditions are the key to this singing competition’s success and you can guarantee they’ll be the focus through the early rounds. It’ll be one to keep an eye on (and another title to add to the list of shows commencing their seasons on April 15). From the press release:

The highly anticipated music competition The Voice, featuring superstar coaches Keith Urban, Seal, Delta Goodrem and Joel Madden, will premiere Sunday, April 15, at 6.30pm on Channel Nine.

The Voice is the quest to discover Australia’s best new voices, featuring three phases of competition: The Blind Auditions, The Battle Rounds, and the Live performance shows which will feature Australia’s very best undiscovered artists judged purely on their vocal ability.

The coaching panel is made up of four great musicians – Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, international country music star Keith Urban, Grammy Award-winning soul singer Seal and Australia’s highest selling female artist of the decade, Delta Goodrem. These superstar coaches are four of the most influential names in music and they’re on a mission to discover and develop Australia’s next great voice. Host Darren McMullen has also had success in his own right with UK series The Magicians and Minute To Win IT, and the US series Love In The Wild.

The Voice will commence with The Blind Auditions. If a coach is impressed by a performer’s voice, they push a button to select the artist for their team of competitors. At this point, the coach’s chair will swivel so they can face the artist they have selected. If more than one coach selects the same artist, the power shifts to the artist who may choose which coach they want to work with throughout the competition. An artist is eliminated when they have not been chosen by one of our coaches.

Thousands of talented, undiscovered singers from around Australia submitted their auditions online in a bid to join a superstar team and ultimately be crowned The Voice.
