Sweetie darling, they’re back.

I know I’m getting old when the mention of the 20th anniversary episodes of Absolutely Fabulous has me wondering where 20 years went. It killed back in the day, and it’s likely to do the same this time around though creators Jennifer Saunders & Joanna Lumley have been smart enough to only meter out 3 episodes. Bottom line: it’ll be a bunch of fun. From the press release:

Twenty years ago the world was introduced to Edina, Patsy, Saffron, Bubble and Mother. It has never been quite the same again. As outrageous, scandalous, raucous and fashion‐addicted as always, the ladies are back on screen reprising their award‐winning roles in three specials* – and they’re going to be fabulous, darling.

Eddy worked in PR, and PR’d things. Into every new fad and fashion imaginable, she and best friend Patsy were often found to be at the bottom of a champagne glass, or more likely, bottle – and not much has changed. Long‐suffering Saffy was hardworking and the grownup of the house, all but ignored by her mother and hated by Patsy.

Now, returning to the small screen to mark this special anniversary, we see a life changing experience for one character… which invariably affects all the others. Patsy is forced to find out how old she actually
is, and discovers her birth certificate. Eddy also sets her sights on changing the career of a very
big fish indeed, taking over the Royal Albert Hall.

20 years on the ladies are a tiny bit older, none the wiser – but definitely still Absolutely Fabulous.

Episode 1‐ Identity
Screening, Wednesday, February 8 at 8pm on ABC1
Twenty years after Eddy, Patsy, Saffy, Bubble and Mother first staggered into our lives, they’re all back. One of them has been away for some time, so there is lots of catching up to do. She returns with a new best friend, who is both a blessing and a threat to the household. It forces them closer than ever. It may even involve one of them owning up to her real age.

Episode 2 – Job
Screening, Wednesday February 15 at 8pm on ABC1
Eddy has fewer and fewer clients and her daughter despises her. So far, so normal. Then Eddy and Patsy meet a famous French film star of whom Saffy is a huge fan. Could this bring Edina new found respect? Eddy decides to take her on as a client and excites the media but everything unravels rather quickly.
